Technology and material

Behind Invisalign lies Align Technology, which uses advanced computer technology to make clear and customised aligners. This technology straightens teeth step by step and the aligners are almost invisible and are easy to remove if necessary, which allows more freedom for you. Nevertheless, it is possible to see the desired result and treatment plan before it starts due to the technology used!
The material of aligners is made of a thermoplastic and the form might remind you of teeth whitening trays. This material allows to make these aligners in a shape that is customised for you and will make your treatment process unique. At Krystal Dental each aligner will be made specially for you and according to your treatment process in order to make the end result just as you would want it.

Invisalign treatment process

The start of the process is simple – make an appointment at Krystal Dental! We will talk you through the process and answer any questions that you may have. Further, our specialist will take an impression of your teeth and then digitally plan your treatment. On average it takes 6-12 months for adults to get the desired results, but it also depends on each case individually. We will then start the treatment process with your customised aligners. Step by step your teeth will move closer to your goal! Usually there is no pain, but may be some discomfort or pressure when inserting the new aligner, but it only shows that the treatment is working! We will then schedule regular appointments to make sure that your treatment is working and going as planned.
Sometimes your treatment can include attachments or ridges that help the aligner and teeth hold. These attachments are small and you will not even notice that they are there. These are only used to make sure that the movement of your teeth will be attained.
The most important thing for you to get your desired teeth is to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day. This will ensure that the process is going as planned. Your aligners should be worn all the time, the only exception is eating, brushing and flossing your teeth!

Taking care of the aligners and living with Invisalign

Taking care of your aligners is an important step. It is easy and does not take a lot of time. Usually the aligners are cleaned by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water, but we recommend to use Invisalign Cleaning Crystals to make sure that your aligners are taken care of, they are odor free, clear and you would keep good oral hygiene.
The second best thing after Invisalign aligners being invisible? It is the possibility to remove them when eating, brushing and flossing your teeth! It makes it so much easier to keep good oral health and you do not have to worry about food being stuck in your teeth as it may happen with braces.
Some people get worried that aligners will affect their speech as it happens with other treatments. Although most people do not experience any changes in their speech, it can still happen as with any other orthodontic treatments. If it happens, do not worry, because it will disappear in a few days!

After Invisalign

You have achieved your desired smile! What now? We recommend you to wear a retainer to maintain your teeth position, because your teeth can start moving back to their original position as it can happen after any other orthodontic treatment. However, we will advise you the best option for you depending on your individual case.
